Job Summary
Responsible for conducting general maintenance and repairs on
facility equipment and property structures. Ensure that systems
perform at optimum functionality. Performs overall repair, general
and preventative maintenance for the campus at large which also
includes all Housing structures such as Hales, Temple View
Apartments (TVA) and Off-Campus University Housing. Technician is
to ensure that all upkeep and repairs are completed in an efficient
manner.

PROBLEMS AND CHALLENGES:
Miscommunication issues with tenants, co-workers. Challenges in
meeting maintenance deadlines.
REGULATIONS:
Federal, state, institutional or other types of regulations that
influence job responsibilities. All activities must conform to the
Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Employee has a small office area in the maintenance shop which is
shared with other maintenance technicians. Support areas also
contains equipment, tools and supplies used in maintaining Hales,
Temple View Apartments, Faculty homes and BYU-Hawaii Campus.
Subject to outdoor weather, gasoline powered engines, fumes,
caustic chemicals, airborne particles with exposure to high,
precarious work places.
EQUIPMENT USED:
Various maintenance tools (for example: screwdrivers, hammers,
Power Tools) plus wet vacs, carpet shampooers, floor waxers and
floor strippers, vacuums, computer, cell phone, copy machine,
printer.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Employee must be able to stand, climb, walk, push, pull, kneel,
stoop, crawl, crouch, reach, hear and see and lift up to 50 pounds.
