Imaging Specialist II (Radiologic Technologist) Hilo Medical
Center, Radiology Diagnostic Unit - Hilo, Hawaii - 100% Full Time
Equivalent with Benefits Salary: $66,000 annually At Hilo Medical
Center, a nationally-recognized "Top Performing" hospital, Imaging
Specialists are valuable members of our team. We are currently
seeking an Imaging Specialist, level II, for our busy Radiology
department. Hilo is located on the east side of the island of
Hawaii, and has a quaint old-Hawaii, small-town atmosphere. The
hospital staff is community-oriented. It is home to the University
of Hawaii, Hawaii Community College, excellent schools and
convenient shopping. Position Focus: This position is responsible
for independently performing a wide range of diagnostic imaging
procedures utilizing ionizing radiation-producing equipment.
Education: Associate's or Bachelor's degree from an approved
program recognized by the Joint Review Committee on Education in
Radiologic Technology (JRCERT). Excess work experience as described
below in the experience requirement section or any other
responsible professional work experience; which provided knowledge,
skills, and abilities comparable to those acquired while completing
a college or university curriculum leading to an associate or
baccalaureate degree may be substituted for education on a
year-for-year basis. To be acceptable, the experience must have
been of such scope, level and quality as to assure the possession
of comparable knowledge, skills and abilities Experience: Six (6)
months of progressively responsible professional imaging
technologist/specialist experience which demonstrated a thorough
knowledge of imaging procedures and/or techniques such as
milligrams, disco grams arteriograms, etc., including the X-raying
of such areas of the human anatomy as the chest, skull,
gastro-intestinal tract, urinary tract, and vascular system.
Licensure: A current State of Hawaii Radiologic Technologist
license as a radiographer at the time of appointment.
Certification: A current American Registry of Radiologic
Technologist (ARRT) in Radiography at the time of appointment.
Additionally, Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required
within six (6) months of employment. Substitution of Experience for
Education: Successful completion of an accredited program in
Radiologic Technology with a certificate or associate degree and
two (2) years of professional radiology experience may substitute
for a bachelor's degree. Excess work experience as described under
the Imaging or Specialized Experience Requirement which provided
knowledge, skills and abilities comparable to those acquired in
four (4) years of successful study while completing a college or
university curriculum leading to a bachelor's degree may be
substituted on a year-for-year basis. Substitution of Experience:
Excess work experience as described under the Specialized
Experience Requirement may be substituted for Imaging Experience on
a year-for-year basis. Must be available to work shifts, weekends,
and holidays as necessary, based on hospital operations (services
are provided 24/7). MEDICAL/PHYSICAL EXAMINATION REQUIREMENT:
Offers of employment will be contingent on successfully passing a
pre-employment physical examination, which includes drug screen and
other regulatory medical requirements such as, but not limited to,
two-step tuberculosis (TB) screen. The cost for physical
examinations, except the cost for drug screening, shall be borne by
the applicant and not the Hawaii Health Systems Corporation.
COVID-19 VACCINATION REQUIREMENT: COVID-19 vaccination is a
condition of employment for Hawaii Health Systems Corporation.
After receiving a conditional offer of employment, all prospective
new HHSC employees are required to be fully vaccinated against
COVID-19. New employees are required to provide confirmation of
their full vaccination status by presenting their CDC vaccination
card or VAMS Certificate prior to their start date. Amendement on
