Registered Nurse – Acute Dialysis Job Summary The Acute Dialysis
Registered Nurse provides dialysis care within a hospital setting,
supporting patients with acute renal needs. This role includes
administering treatments, supervising support staff, and ensuring
safe, high-quality patient care. The RN functions under the
direction of nursing leadership and works closely with
interdisciplinary hospital teams. Essential Duties and
ResponsibilitiesGrowth & Quality Improvement - Support clinical and
operational initiatives to improve patient outcomes and reduce
hospitalizations. - Ensure accurate patient treatment data,
documentation, and billing information. - Utilize supplies and
staff resources efficiently. - Participate in inventory management
and follow purchasing protocols. - Perform assigned tasks to
support patient care and unit operations. Patient Outcomes -
Administer medications as ordered by physicians. - Provide patient
education and conduct follow-up as needed. - Support quality
initiatives to meet patient outcome targets. Operational
ReadinessClinical Responsibilities - Follow all federal, state,
local regulations, and practice act standards. - Perform within
established company, hospital, and regulatory guidelines. -
Complete equipment safety checks and water quality verification
before treatments. - Conduct pre- and post-treatment physical
assessments. - Perform handoff communication with hospital nursing
staff. - Initiate and terminate dialysis treatments, including
catheter connection and site care. - Set up dialysis machines and
report technical issues as needed. - Clean, disinfect, and maintain
dialysis equipment per policy. - Participate in infection control
monitoring and implementation. - Use appropriate PPE and follow all
safety policies. - Be familiar with hospital emergency procedures
and equipment. Advanced Acute Dialysis Services - Provide
treatments such as Hemodialysis, Peritoneal Dialysis, CRRT, and
Therapeutic Plasma Exchange when required. - Participate in
required surveys and audits. - Ensure accurate and complete patient
documentation. - Communicate concerns related to patient care or
safety to appropriate supervisors. - Maintain and prepare dialysis
systems and troubleshoot equipment problems. Partnerships &
Communication - Communicate patient assessments and updates to the
physician and clinical team. - Maintain effective relationships
with hospital staff and providers. - Uphold customer service
standards and respond to patient concerns professionally. Staff
Development - Attend staff meetings, required in-services, and
continuing education. - Delegate tasks appropriately based on
competency and state practice laws. - Support staff training and
promote teamwork across the care team. RequirementsQualifications -
Active RN license in applicable state (or compact state, if
eligible). - Minimum 12 months of recent nursing experience
preferred. - Prior dialysis experience strongly preferred. - CPR
certification from a hospital-approved program. - Ability to pass
color-vision screening. - Proficiency in basic computer skills;
competency in clinical software required within 90 days of hire. -
Must meet all additional hospital or agency onboarding
