Cardiac Progressive Care Unit Registered Nurse (CPCU RN) – Contract Job Type: Contract Position Urgency: Normal Duration: 13 weeks Schedule: Varied shifts; 36 hours per week following orientation (hours not guaranteed) Job Overview We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join a Cardiac Progressive Care Unit (CPCU). This unit includes both step-down ICU and telemetry beds, requiring strong clinical judgment and cardiac monitoring skills. The RN will provide high-quality patient care, monitor cardiac rhythms, and collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes. Unit Details - Unit Type: Progressive Care / Cardiac Telemetry - Total Beds: 15 - 3 Step-Down ICU beds - 12 Telemetry beds - Nurse-to-Patient Ratios: - Progressive Care: 1:4 - Step-Down ICU: 1:3 Key Responsibilities - Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in a progressive care environment. - Perform cardiac telemetry monitoring and rhythm strip interpretation. - Monitor and manage patient conditions including vital signs, blood glucose levels, and cardiac status. - Administer medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders. - Utilize clinical equipment including BIPAP and continuous cardiac monitoring systems. - Document patient care accurately in the electronic medical record system. - Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care. Requirements - Licensure: Must hold a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Hawaii. Candidates without an active license must apply upon offer acceptance and obtain it prior to assignment start. - Experience: Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience with recent acute care hospital experience required; progressive care and telemetry experience preferred. - Certifications: - Required: BLS/BCLS - Preferred: ACLS, PALS, NIHSS Equipment & Systems - Electronic Medical Record: EPIC - Equipment: Meditech charting tools, Pyxis medication system, BIPAP machines, continuous cardiac monitoring systems Additional Information - RNs may be required to float to other acute care units including medical, surgical/pediatric, ICU, or emergency departments as needed. - Dress Code: Professional scrubs. - Holiday coverage may be required. - Candidates must attend a required employee health appointment prior to the assignment start.
