Rotating - 3 days x 12 hours Contract Duration: 13 Weeks Start
Date: 2/23/2026 About the Position RN Flex Pool (Med-Surg /
Step-Down) Days Location: Hilo, Hawaii The RN Flex Pool provides
high-quality nursing care across multiple inpatient medical and
surgical units, floating as needed to support changing staffing and
patient acuity needs. This role is ideal for a versatile travel
nurse with strong Med-Surg and step-down experience who is
comfortable working in different environments within the same
facility. Assignment details Job Type: 13-week travel contract
Start Date: February 23, 2026 (arrival required Thursday prior for
Employee Health on Friday) Schedule: 12-hour day shifts, 06:45 AM
7:15 PM Hours: Scheduled 36 hours per week after orientation; no
guarantee of hours Holiday coverage: Required Units and ratios
Units covered: Medical Unit Laulima Unit (Surgical Acute)
Cardiovascular Unit (on rare occasions) Typical nurse-to-patient
ratios (may vary with staffing): Medical: 1:6 days/eves; 1:8 nights
Laulima (Surgical Acute): 1:6 Cardiovascular: 1:4 Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult medical and step-down
patients, including complex, multi-diagnosis cases. Float safely
and professionally between designated units based on census,
acuity, and staffing needs. Perform head-to-toe assessments,
ongoing reassessments, and timely interventions for changes in
condition. Administer medications, blood products, and treatments;
manage IVs, central lines, and telemetry monitoring per unit
standards. Utilize unit equipment such as wound vacs, chest tubes,
Pyxis medication dispensing systems, and the facility EMR. Document
care accurately and efficiently in the EMR (Meditech; Epic
referenced in system) in accordance with facility policy.
Collaborate with physicians, charge nurses, case management,
therapy, and ancillary staff to coordinate safe, patient-centered
care. Educate patients and families on diagnoses, medications,
procedures, and discharge instructions to support safe transitions
of care. Uphold infection prevention, patient safety, and quality
standards, including fall prevention and core measure compliance.
Requirements Active Hawaii RN license by start date. Minimum 2
years of recent RN experience; strong Med-Surg and/or step-down
background required. BLS required; ACLS preferred (additional
preferred: PALS, TNCC, ENPC, Procedural Sedation). Proof of
immunity required; no medical or religious exemptions accepted per
facility policy. Experience with Meditech or similar inpatient EMR
strongly preferred. Demonstrated ability to float between units,
manage full patient assignments, and adapt to varying workflows.

Facility and unit-specific orientation provided on each assigned
