Registered Nurse - ER – UHC Staffing Registered Nurse - ER Location: Hilo, HI Start Date: 03-29-2026 End Date: 06-28-2026 Contract Type: Travel Contract Shift Type: Days - 3 x 12-hour day shifts per week (36 hours weekly). Day shift; specific start/end times vary by facility. Roles & Responsibilities Provide expert, compassionate emergency nursing care to a high-turnover, 28-bed ER Rapidly triage and assess patients, prioritizing care in trauma and high-acuity situations Monitor and manage cardiac patients in 22 cardiac-monitor rooms using advanced monitoring Deliver evidence-based interventions for trauma, behavioral health, and pediatric emergencies Collaborate closely with physicians, techs and the care team to drive fast, safe patient throughput Maintain accurate, timely documentation and communicate clear handoffs between shifts Participate in procedural sedation and emergency procedures as appropriate and within scope Support a calm, team-focused culture during high-volume and fast-paced conditions Qualifications Active State of Hawaii RN license required by start of assignment Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification required Experience in emergency nursing, trauma care, cardiac monitoring and behavioral health preferred Preferred certifications: Procedural Sedation, TMCC, EMPC Strong teamwork, communication skills and ability to thrive in a fast-paced ER Knowledge & Skills Emergency nursing and trauma care expertise Cardiac monitoring and rapid cardiac assessment Behavioral health patient management in the ED setting Ability to work efficiently in a high-turnover, team-oriented environment Procedural support and familiarity with sedation processes (preferred) Strong clinical judgment, triage skills and clear documentation Benefits Supportive team that values YOU and helps you hit your best shift rhythm Licensure assistance and reimbursement to help get your Hawaii RN license in place Travel reimbursement and help getting settled so you can focus on patients (not packing boxes) Generous housing assistance options to make your stay easier Medical, dental and vision options to keep you healthy on and off shift Paid time off so you can recharge after intense weeks in the ER Professional development support and opportunities to build your emergency nursing skills A collaborative, fast-paced environment where your trauma and cardiac skills shine Travel Perks: Explore Hilo, HI Hilo on the Big Island is a nature lover's playground.
