Pay: $56 per hour Shift Information: Days - 5 days Start Date: 4/6/2026 About the Position Registered Nurse - Progressive Care – UHC Staffing Registered Nurse - Progressive Care Location: Hilo, HI Start Date: 04-06-2026 End Date: 07-06-2026 Contract Type: Travel Contract Shift Type: Varied/rotating shifts (specific start/end times not provided). Scheduled 36 hours/week following orientation; may include day and night rotations and weekends. No on-call requirement. Roles & Responsibilities Provide compassionate primary nursing care for patients in the Progressive Care/step-down setting Perform continuous cardiac/telemetry monitoring and interpret telemetry strips to detect changes Execute fingerstick blood sugars and manage glucose as directed Document thoroughly and accurately using Meditech to ensure continuity of care Safely administer medications using Pyxis and follow medication administration policies Operate and monitor respiratory support when needed (BIPAP) and collaborate with respiratory therapy Float to other acute units (Medical, Surgical/Peds, ICU, ER) as patient needs require Communicate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and participate in patient care planning Qualifications Active Hawaii RN license required by the start of assignment (you must obtain State of HI license upon acceptance if you do not already have one) Minimum 1 year of hospital acute care experience within the last year Progressive care and telemetry experience preferred Experience with telemetry strip reading and continuous cardiac monitoring Familiarity with Meditech charting and Pyxis medication systems ACLS preferred, current PALS preferred, NIHSS certification preferred Comfort floating to other acute units and adapting to varied patient populations Willingness to wear scrubs per unit dress code Knowledge & Skills Telemetry monitoring and telemetry strip interpretation Acute care nursing and progressive/step-down patient management Meditech electronic charting proficiency Use of Pyxis medication dispensing systems Continuous cardiac/cardiac monitoring equipment Basic respiratory support knowledge (BIPAP) and collaboration with respiratory therapy Primary nursing care practices and solid patient assessment skills Ability to prioritize in a fast-paced acute care setting Benefits Supportive team that values YOU — friendly colleagues and collaborative leadership Licensure assistance and guidance to help you get your Hawaii RN license by start of assignment Comprehensive onboarding and orientation so you feel confident from day one Flexible scheduling conversations — we work with you to land shifts that fit your life Opportunities to sharpen skills across acute, med/surg, ICU and ER when floating Paid time for mandatory training and competency validation Access to professional development resources and clinical learning on the floor A culture that respects work-life balance — no mandatory call Travel Perks: Explore Hilo, HI Hilo is a world of lush rainforests, waterfalls and island culture — perfect for off-shift adventures.
