Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical/Surgical (Adult) | Contract | Varied Shifts We are seeking an experienced and flexible Registered Nurse (RN) for a 13-week contract assignment providing adult medical-surgical care in an acute care setting. This role is ideal for a med-surg RN who is adaptable, clinically strong, and comfortable floating to related units as needed. Position Details: Job Type: Contract Assignment Length: 13 weeks Number of Openings: 1 Position Urgency: Normal Schedule: Day or Night shifts (to be determined) Hours: Scheduled for approximately 36 hours per week following the first full week of orientation Shifts may vary in length and days worked; flexibility is required No guarantee of hours or shift preference Specialty: Nursing Sub-Specialty: Adult Medical-Surgical Unit Overview: Adult medical unit with approximately 50 beds Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:5 Key Responsibilities: Provide comprehensive medical-surgical nursing care to adult patients (18) Perform assessments, administer medications, and deliver treatments per provider orders Monitor patient conditions and respond to changes appropriately Utilize equipment such as wound vacs, chest tubes, and medication dispensing systems Float to surgical pediatrics or transitional care units as needed Accurately document patient care using the electronic medical record Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary care teams to ensure continuity of care Required Qualifications: Active Hawaii Registered Nurse (RN) license (must be active by assignment start; travelers must apply upon offer acceptance if not already licensed) Minimum of 2 years of medical-surgical or higher-acuity nursing experience Strong clinical assessment, time-management, and communication skills Ability to work varied shifts and adapt to changing unit needs Certifications: BLS (required) ACLS (preferred) Additional Information: Holiday coverage may be required; holiday time-off requests are not accepted Orientation and department-specific training provided during the first week Professional nursing attire required; closed-toe shoes mandatory Candidates must be able to arrive prior to assignment start to complete employee health onboarding This opportunity is well suited for a seasoned med-surg RN seeking a flexible contract assignment with diverse clinical exposure in an acute care environment.
